Chile’s state-owned oil company ENAP has agreed to acquire Pluspetrol Ecuador for $207 million, expanding its oil assets and business presence in Ecuador. An October 20, 2026 report by Cailian Press cited documents outlining the agreement.
The acquisition agreement points to ENAP seeking a larger position in Ecuador through the purchase of an existing business. The immediate significance is the proposed expansion of its asset portfolio; any subsequent increase in production or operating earnings would depend on the assets’ performance and ENAP’s investment and operating decisions.
The $207 million purchase price alone does not establish how much additional oil output the transaction could bring or whether the acquisition represents an attractive valuation. Those assessments would require details on the assets included, their operating costs and the obligations associated with the business.
The agreement also needs to be distinguished from a completed transfer of ownership. Further disclosures on completion and the scope of the acquired operations would help clarify how the transaction will translate into a larger operating presence for ENAP in Ecuador.
